  • How are Klix applied and are they safe for my hair?

Klix are the safest method of hair extensions on the market. In fact, most people notice that their hair grows more and gets healthier while wearing Klix because your extensions are helping to protect your natural hair from styling damage. Think of them like a “permanent” clip-in. Your natural hair is pulled through a silicone lined microbead, which is then clamped shut with a closing tool. Every 4-5 weeks, the microbeads are re-opened and the extensions are moved up closer to the scalp and re-closed. There is no adhesive or bonding of any kind and the silicone helps prevent sliding and protects your hair at the same time.

  • Can anyone wear Klix? How long does my hair need to be?

Not EVERYONE can wear them. Your hair should be at least collarbone length and your layers need to be long enough to fall over the extensions and hide them. Anyone with actively thinning hair is also not a candidate due to the extra weight that is placed on the hair follicle. The best candidates for Klix are those with shoulder length or longer, healthy hair that want to add length, fullness, or both. Specialty services can also be done using Half-packs to fill in gaps and areas of missing length, add just body without any length, or to enhance your color without damage or commitment.

  • Can I wear my hair up high and style it as normal?

Yes, but wearing your hair in a loose braid or a mid to low ponytail is gentler on your extensions and your scalp. It can be worn up high, but it may take a little extra caution in order to make sure that the weft is not visible. Hair can be blown dry and styled as usual with the exception of flat ironing. ALWAYS use a heat protector (I recommend Moroccan oil Perfect Defense) when styling with a curling iron, but steer clear of the flat iron if you want your extensions to last. The hair come silky and straight so there should be no need to flat iron over your extensions.

  • Can I color my hair while wearing Klix?

Absolutely. The perimeter of the hairline and the entire top section of your natural hair can be colored while wearing Klix. This will fall over the extensions and is the only area that is visible and needs to be colored for the lifespan of your extensions. Please note: Klix Hair extensions CAN be toned or colored darker, but can never be lightened for ANY reason.

  • Are there any side effects from wearing Klix?

For many people the first 72 hours of wearing extensions can be uncomfortable. You might experience mild headaches, itching and/or general soreness. Remember, you will be carrying extra weight on your head and it may take you a few days to get used to it. Usually after 72 hours you’ll wake up in the morning and forget that you’re wearing them. Mild pain relievers such as Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, etc., are usually sufficient in relieving the discomfort if you experience it at all.

  • How many months do Klix last?

With proper care and maintenance, you can usually expect Klix to last for between 4 and 6 months. Many factors play into how long hair extensions last such as water, products, chemical services, activities, heat from styling tools, brushing, and proper maintenance. Some people may be able to wear them a little less and others a little longer. Scroll down to see my recommended list of products that will help you get the most longevity out of your hair.

  • So how does the process work? What do I need to do in order to get long luxurious hair?

Start with scheduling a free consultation. You will come in to the salon so that I can inspect your hair, make sure that you’re a good candidate for Klix and we will determine what hair color we need to order (please make sure that you are happy with not changing your hair color for the next 6 months once we match the color.) In order to schedule an application appt, the cost of the hair is required as a deposit. I usually book several weeks out, so please make sure I have availability before scheduling a consultation if you need in immediately.

  • How much can I expect to pay?

The cost of hair does increase periodically, but plan on approximately $575 for a full set and $450 for a half-pack (broken up into 2 separate payments). The cost of the hair is required when scheduling the application and the balance of $175 is due at your application appt and includes cutting/blending with your natural hair. Adjustments are required every 4-5 weeks, take approx. 30 minutes and are $50. Prices are estimated and subject to change.
